The Start Up of Me
This week I am back at it with my BYU-I online classes to achieve my bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies. After taking a few semesters off, I feel pretty rusty about jumping back into an online school schedule with 10 credits this Fall semester. I am especially excited for this Intro to Entrepreneurship Class (BUS110) as it is not what I was expecting when originally reading the course description. I learned this week that we will be learning all about ourselves in this course! This course will be the “startup of you” where I will be figuring out what my calling is, what are my dreams, along with doing a self-examination with various activities throughout the semester. I will also be learning from other entrepreneur experiences to hopefully discover what it is I would be successful at, and have a love and passion for, in creating a future personal business.
In this week’s readings and videos, I was reminded from President Gordon B Hinckley’s video at what faithful and strong generation we have been born into! He reminded me to “not short circuit ourselves or sell ourselves short”, which I have fallen into this with my life’s trials and frustrations. From my patriarchal blessing I know I have been given many talents and gifts, and I am grateful this class will help me find those and understand them better. We all have a great work to do! He reminded me that as long as we do our best Heavenly Father will bless us. In ‘The Start-Up of You” video I was surprised when it said we were all born with an entrepreneurial spirit. I had never thought of that before, but it is true. I love when they also said, “we have it within ourselves to take control of our career and build the future we want.” I do believe that when we discover ourselves and our talents and strengths and dreams, that we can build the life and future that we want. I am so glad I found this class to help me pull through a life slump I have been in to discover new things about ME.
