Journey of Gratitude

This week we learned about how to have a journey of gratitude. I feel this is extremely important in life in general and I see how this is especially important in our entrepreneurship journey as well. I loved President Thomas S. Monson’s talk titled, “An Attitude of Gratitude” where he shares how and six people who we can reflect on to show our gratitude for. We should always reflect gratitude for our mothers, fathers, teachers, friends-especially our partner in marriage, our country- the land of our birth, and finally but supremely-our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. These are the people in our lives that lift us, help us, and can inspire us. I love that he says we can be those for other people as well.

I learned in a video with Larry North, he mentions how important having good mentors is. He gleaned a lot of great things by watching his mentors interact and do things. He said it is super important to not just watch them and seek their advice, but to also apply it to your life or it can cost you if you don’t use it. He also said that negative things come with being an entrepreneur like people embezzling money from you or your best employee going off to start their own business. He said you must be prepared for these negative things to happen in your business and learn how to roll with the punches. I loved that he shared this because this is the part that a lot of businesspeople don’t want to talk about.

I learned reading the materials this week how important it is to work for a company before you start your own. I realize how important this is to learn from others and bigger companies because those things you learn will be that much more helpful to your future business and company. Doing this gives you insights and perspectives that can only be learned through working with others, and gaining experience and hands on learning.
